D&D 5E – Class Reference Sheets

D&D 5E – Class Reference Sheets

These “D&D 5E – Class Reference Sheets” were created to supplement my new “D&D 5E – Character Sheet and Folio” (You can find it on the “D&D 5E – Character Sheet and Folio” page HERE.) but you may find them useful regardless of the Character Sheet you are using.

There is a separate file that you can download for every subclass in the Player’s Handbook (PHB). There is also a “Generic” sheet for each class for you to use if you haven’t yet decided on your subclass – or if you are using a subclass from some other source. There are also files for the Artificer Class published in Eberron: Rising From the Last War. I have tried to keep each of these to one page, but several are two pages.

Artificer: Alchemist, Artillerist, Battle Smith, Generic
Barbarian Path: Berserker, Totem Warrior, Generic
Bard College: Lore, Valor, Generic
Cleric Domain: Knowledge, Life, Light, Nature, Tempest, Trickery, War, Generic
Druid Circle: Land, Moon, Generic
Fighter: Champion, Battle Master, Eldritch Knight, Generic
Monk Way: Shadow, Four Elemens, Open Hand, Generic
Paladin Oath Devotion: Ancients, Vengeance, Generic
Ranger: Beast Master, Hunter, Generic
Rogue: Arcane Trickster, Assassin, Thief, Generic
Sorcerer: Draconic Bloodline, Wild Magic, Generic
Warlock Patron: Archfey, Fiend, Great Old One, Generic
Wizard School: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy, Transmutation, Generic

Revision #1, 4/8/2023: Added a sheet for a Wizard to list more spellbook spells. Download it HERE.

Revision #2, 3/3/2024: Corrected Artificer’s subclass Reference Sheets

These will calculate spells known, cantrips known, spell save DC, spell attack modifier and other things for each spell casting subclass. It also calculates things like rages, bardic inspiration, channel divinity, wild shape, Ki points, divine sense, sneak attack, sorcerey points, arcane recovery, and more.

For it to do the calculations, you must enter your character’s class level. Note that if your character has levels in multiple classes this will be the levels you have in this class and not your total character level. For some calculations you may also need to enter your proficiency bonus and an ability modifier.

There is room for you to list your spells. There should be enough room for more than just the spell name. What I do is enter a symbol to indicate if the spell is (C) concentration, (R) ritual, or sometimes (T) casting time. If the spell isn’t from the PHB there is room to indicate which book it is in. For the Cleric, and some others, when you get to higher levels there may not be enough room to list all available spells, but there should be room enough to list the ones you use the most.

Enjoy!

Hey buddy. I’m still using your old school ship combat rules. Big battle tonight between the longship riding Norsca and the players small fleet.

Thank you, for designing these! I have a couple players in my weekly game (1 is autistic) & these will help them tremendously. Is there anyway you can add a Paladin (of Devotion) to the lineup? I know you can use Generic for that one, but having the already filled info would help me & my player tremendously.

      Thank you Randy!
I just added it. It was my intention to include all of the sub-classes that are in the Player’s Handbook. I just overlooked this one. Funny thing, I did create the page, I just forgot to include it in the post.

The bard character bonus sheet won’t update the PB.

      Thank you.
When I first read tor comment I didn’t understand. None of the sheets access the other sheets so you must enter the P.B. (Proficiency Bonus) and your Bard Level.. You only need to fill it into one of the spaces and it automatically fills in the other one. However, the Bard sheets are not working in many ways. After you enter the bard level, P.B., CHA, and any Miscellaneous bonuses your character may have, it should be filling in the Song of Rest Die, Spell Save DC, Spell Attack Modifier, Cantrips Known, and Spells Known. It isn’t doing any of that!
It looks like it is working on the other class sheets, so somehow I must have dropped the ball when it comes to the Bard sheets.
I’ll try to fix them sometime this week.
Thanks again. Please let me know if you find anything else that isn’t working.

    These sheets are amazing!

I was just wondering if you were planning on updating (the Barbarian Berserker is specifically what I am looking at lol) the sheets with the 2024 versions of the subclasses?

    Again… amazing work!

Thank you. I am glad you find these useful.
As far as updating the sheets with the 2024 version, yes I will be updating these as well as the character sheets, DM Screens, and much more with the new 2024 version (which I am calling D&D 5.5).
As you can imagine, this is going to be a major undertaking. I am currently posting reviews of the various topics in the new PHB. And I am, at the same time, posting adventures (using 5E rules) that will combine to be a campaign arc I am calling “It’s About Time” that will take PCs from level 1 to level 20.
I will also be reviewing the new Dungeon Masters Guide and the Monster Manuel when they are released.
And I have a day job.
I said all of that to say this; updates to the Class Reference Sheets may not be done as soon as you would like. Updating everything that needs updating will probably take most of 2025.
      Stay tuned.

The Generic Fighter Reference Sheet doesn’t allow you to enter a character level, so it won’t calculate the # of uses for Second Wind, Indomitable, or Action Surges. I’m guessing it’s looking for input from your fighter Character Sheet, but it can’t find it because it’s been severed from that file.

That was a good guess, but it was simpler than even that. It was set to read only. It’s hard to believe that you were the first to report that.

I fixed it. Download a new copy (the new file name ends in “2”).

      Thanks for letting me know.

My friends and I have been using these sheets for a while and we’re all loving it!

One bummer is that it seems like only Warlock has a spell slot tracker… Would it be possible to fit that onto the other spellcasters too?
So far we’ve managed tracking slots spent by just scribbling on the edge of the sheet.

As I say on the first line of text on this page “These ‘D&D 5E – Class Reference Sheets’ were created to supplement my new ‘D&D 5E – Character Sheet and Folio’…” If you are using that, page 4 is a page for tracking your spell slots and castings. As you know, Warlocks don’t track their spell slots by spell level, so I made the Warlock Class Reference Sheet to replace page 4 on the “Character Sheet and Folio.”

If you don’t like that Folio (many people prefer a simpler character sheet), you should check out the one here:

      https://olddungeonmaster.com/2025/01/19/dd-5-5-character-sheet-fillable-and-auto-calculating/

The last page (page 4) is for spell casters. If you only want to use that page, you can print it out blank and fill in everything with a pencil. Or enter your level, your class and sub-class, and fill in your ability scores on page 1 and it will fill in the boxes on page 4.

      I hope that helps.

Aha – We are using the class reference sheets in addition to the vanilla character sheets (replacing the spell list one for spellcasters), which is why it seems like spell slots are missing. I’ll have a look at yours there. Thanks!
