D&D 5E – Character Sheet

Sheets

Download this Autofill PDF file HERE

UPDATE: The character sheets on this page are an older version. For the most recent auto-calculate Character Sheets click HERE.

Here are some ready-to-play first level character sheets: D&D 5E – Quick Play Character Sheets

I really like the new fifth edition rules, but I am not a big fan of the character sheet provided by Wizards of the Coasts in The Basic Rules for Dungeons and Dragons, so I created my own. I found several others that fans have created, but I don’t care for them much either.

This has everything the player needs for combat on the front or first page and everything else on the back or second page. There is a third sheet for spell casters.

Revision:

I revised the file somewhat. I added lifestyle expenses to the second page and made a few other minor changes. It fills in the current date and calculates ability modifiers. You can click on the date and change it. If you delete the date it fills in with the current date. If you don’t want any date printed, you can delete the date and add a space. I also added a “Clear” button on the first page. It doesn’t print, but be careful with it because it clears all of the information you have added to all three pages. I purposefully did not calculate any skill or saving throw bonuses. Typically, your skill bonuses will be your ability modifier. Put a check mark in the little box next to a skill if you are proficient in that skill and add your proficiency bonus to your ability modifier. I didn’t calculate this, because there are situations where some characters have a larger bonus than this.
Many thanks to George Karas for his help and suggestions. He felt that the spell list needed more room for more lengthy spell descriptions. For simplicity sake, I decided not to do that. My feeling is that if you want a more complete spell description you could copy the descriptions onto cards (that is what I would do) or add another sheet.
The border is wider on the left on page 1 and on the right on page 2. The reason for this is for those of you that want to print your character sheet on two sides of a single sheet of paper. There should be a wide enough border that you can punch holes on the side to put it into a three ring binder.

I really like this Ronny. I would like to see a section for Advantages/disadvantages though.

Thanks for this great page. My group will be starting our first 5e game November and our character sheet of choice is yours. Now sharing it with all the pen’n paper fans I know.

This is great to hear. I am very glad that you like it. Pen’n paper is the way to go. My wife always puts “Magic Mending Tape” over the areas that change a lot. She can write on it with a pencil and it can take a lot of erasing.
I realize that a lot of people must like these sheets, based on the large number of hits these pages get, but very few people take the time to post a comment. Thank you very much.
If you are interested, you might check out the auto-fill version and yesterday I added “Quick Play” sheets that are ready-to-play first level characters that you can make changes to before you print them – or simply play them as-is. They all have a “Clear” button to remove all of the information if you want to print a blank sheet.

Hello, first I would like to say your character sheets are great and I love the auto-fill versions. I am sure you put a lot of time into creating them and I appreciate you making them available to the public for free.
However, I did run into a problem recently concerning the auto-fill sheets. Some magic items and class abilities (and some game rules) add or subtract modifiers to attack and damage values. Therefore it would be helpful if we were able to manually enter a number into these fields without the auto calculate creating an error. (Or if it is impossible to manually add a number since there are formulas doing calculations, perhaps you could add an “other” field box for both attack and damage that adds to the total). The following are three examples where the auto calculate interferes:
    1) A Ranger who has the Archery Fighting Style cannot add the +2 to attack rolls to create the correct value in the Total Attack Bonus field.
    2) A Ranger with Bracers of Archery cannot add the +2 to damage rolls
    3) Anyone fighting with two weapons who does not have the two-weapon fighting style cannot add their modifier to their damage roll. But auto calculate does not allow for deletion of the modifier.

So far I have only had this problem for our Ranger so we had to convert to your form fillable character sheet. But I would love to still utilize your auto-fill version so if you can find time to make a revision I sure would appreciate it and I am sure others would as well.

    Thanks for your hard work!

I realize this was an older comment, but if you download the file again you will get the latest version. I believe I have corrected all of the issues you mentioned in your comment.

      1) Make sure you have downloaded the latest version “5-0-character-sheet-rrh-fillable-rev6b.pdf” That is Revision 6b.
      2) Many people have reported problems using on-line pdf editors, so download the PDF file to your local hard drive and use a PDF reader on your desktop computer (I know that Adobe Reader works).
      3) The ability adjustment scores should fill in after you have entered a character Level and your Ability scores. Don’t forget to enter a character level. It needs that to calculate your proficiency bonus.
If you have done all of this and it still doesn’t dork for you, please let me know specifically what operating system and PDF reader you are using.
If you do get it to work, please post here what you did to make it work, others may have the same problem and will appreciate your comments.

        Thank you very much!
I am currently working on an updated version. Hopefully, I will have it available next week. It will include additional pages for more complete spell descriptions, magical items with their descriptions, a page for traits – feats – features, and a separate page for each different class with all of that class’s features listed by level.
        Stay tuned!

Hi, I can’t get the Autofill to work at all. I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on macOS Sierra and none of the corrections are working. I have my level put into the sheet and have clicked the update button several times but nothing seems to be working. The only time I can get the autofill capabilities working is when I just use the google drive link, but since I can’t save that to my drive or anything like that (I have tried uploading it to drive after downloading, but nothing seems to work) I am at a loss. I hope you can fix it, cause this seems really awesome!

I don’t have access to a MAC. Can someone else that is reading this help William?
The only thing that I might suggest it to try another OP (if that is an option), or try a different PDF reader. I don’t know what is available on macOS Sierra. Good luck, and please let me know if you find a solution.

This character sheet is amazing!!!! I have two groups and i made them use this, and they are all happy as it calculates all on its own..

I have one request. Could you add Bardic Inspiration die as well? next to the Ki/MartialArts/SneakAttack… or next to the Sorcery point.

Thank you for the awesome sheet.

Thank you very much! I am glad that you are finding it useful.

I recommend that you use my seven page character sheet and class feature sheets here:
      https://olddungeonmaster.wordpress.com/2017/09/21/dd5e-character-sheet-rev7/

It is my latest version. It fixes a couple of minor things and page 3 is for traits-feats-features. You can use one box for Bardic Inspiration. You can enter the current die, and there are check boxes to mark them off as they are used.

I removed Ki/Martial Arts/Sneak attack … from the first page and instead have provided class feature sheets that you can print off for your character’s class / sub class. These lists all of the features for your class as you progress in levels.

Beautiful and well made. You would also need a box to adjust saving throws, some magical objects or character abilities, such as the paladin’s aura, in fact change them. Having an extra page for spells would also be nice.

I am not new to D&D, but this is my first stab at 5E. I like your character sheets very much. Other sheets I’ve seen haven’t had the detail that yours do. Thank you for making 5E transition even better.
